SARAH NAVRATIL QUARTET

Sarah Navratil is a Minnesota-born saxophonist, woodwind doubler, artist, and composer now based in New York City. Growing up in close proximity to midwestern natural landscapes and wildlife, Sarah takes compositional and artistic inspiration from nostalgic sounds of the natural world from bird calls and coyote calls to the unconventional sounds of natural artifacts like foraged bone wind chimes. This work translates to her visual art as well. Both areas of her work carry themes of the natural world as well as childhood nostalgia, womanhood, human experience, and are intended to draw closer relationships between humans and the natural world.
